A Mix in Red: New Delaware Development to Combine Fire Station and Housing

Tax Credit Advisor, October 2011: For seniors with a passion for fire trucks, Lincoln Towers in Wilmington, Del. is the perfect place to live.

Now under construction, with completion anticipated by July 2012, the 10-story, $30.7 million red brick development will contain a new ground-level fire station for existing Fire Company No. 5, 87 affordable one- and two-bedroom apartments above for low-income seniors 62 or older, and underground parking.

Being developed by Michaels Development Co. (MDC) and the Wilmington Housing Authority (WHA), Lincoln Towers is an example of how municipal and housing resources and uses can be combined in an innovative way to address different needs.
