A.C.T.I.O.N. Coalition Urges Congress to Preserve, Improve LIHTC Program

Tax Credit Advisor, October 2011: More than 200 national, state, and local organizations, including the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association, have signed a new letter urging Congress to preserve the low-income housing tax credit program and endorsing two legislative proposals to improve it.
The organizations are coalition members of the Affordable Rental Housing A.C.T.I.O.N. Campaign, a national umbrella advocacy group for the LIHTC program.
The letter comes as Congress works on appropriations bills and the new Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, or “Super Committee,” prepares to scrutinize current federal direct spending and tax expenditures to try to craft proposed legislation to cut the federal deficit by at least $1.2 trillion over 10 years.
