Tax Credit Advisor, September 2011: The federal low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) program, 25 years old now, has created over 2.4 million affordable apartment units nationwide in communities small to large. A Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies report has called it the “most successful federal affordable housing production and preservation program in the nation’s history.”
