Tax Credit Advisor, November 2009: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on 10/6/09 published a notice updating its annual list of designated Difficult Development Areas (DDAs), and announcing some newly designated Qualified Census Tracts (QCTs), for the low-income housing tax credit program. Projects in DDAs and QCTs qualify for extra housing credits. The notice identifies DDAs in each of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, and U.S. Virgin Islands. The list contains final designations of DDAs in the Gulf Opportunity (GO) Zone. The notice also reports changes to QCT designations for Arizona for a metropolitan area and the nonmetropolitan area of the state, due to newly defined metropolitan statistical areas in the state.
