Not a Pretty Picture: Need for Affordable Rental Housing Is Greater Than Ever, Says Harvard Report

Tax Credit Advisor, June 2011: Record numbers of U.S. renters are paying more than 30% of their income for housing costs and the problem is likely to worsen, according to a new report from the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University.
The study, funded in part by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, provides statistics, information, and analysis on U.S. renters, the rental housing inventory, trends in these areas, and the future outlook.
The need for affordable rental housing has grown in the past decade and the strengthening national economy is posing further problems.
