Tax Credit Advisor, August 2011: As a result of the recent downturn in the low-income housing tax credit market, we and other affordable housing professionals are operating in a new environment: one that focuses foremost on the fundamentals while dealing with operational challenges.
The past few years have caused substantial changes in the LIHTC industry. We believe these changes — a shift to what some have called the “new normal” — are generally beneficial, and likely to continue going forward.
This new environment reflects changes in: underwriting and compliance monitoring; market analysis; public policy; and communication and stakeholder relationships.
