RHS Solicits Proposals for Section 538 Guaranteed Loans

Tax Credit Advisor, February 2009:The USDA’s Rural Housing Service has solicited proposals from lenders for new Section 538 guaranteed loans for rural affordable rental housing projects, subject to the availability of appropriations. About $129 million was appropriated for the program in the last fiscal year (FY 2008). The notice, published in the Federal Register on 1/21/09, also notes that $2 million is available for Section 538 loans for projects in disaster areas. Applications will be accepted to the extent that funds are still available until 9/28/09.
